Betty Gale Brooks, 87, of Hermann, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann.
Betty was born Jan. 25, 1936, to R.P. and Rena Bell (Johnson) Kennedy in Mississippi County, Ark.
She was united in marriage to Don Brooks, Aug. 25, 1956, in Jonesboro, Ark.
Betty attended Arkansas State and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Betty retired from the Rockwood School District, where she taught second grade, after 25 years of service. She and Don then ran a successful bed and breakfast in Hermann.
She was a member at Hermann United Methodist Church in Hermann, Beulah Baptist Church in Brunot, and at Trinity Methodist Church in Piedmont.
She was preceded in death by parents, R.P. and Rena; husband of 66 years, Don; brother, Douglas Kennedy; and sisters, Jean Cashion and Phyllis Brockmann.
Betty is survived by children, Charlotte (Rick) Emmons, Mark (Jill) Brooks, Mary (Greg) Caragher, and Pat (Stephanie) Brooks; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Larry (Jan) Kennedy.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 19, at Toedtmann and Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, with Pastor Phil Cox officiating.
Burial was at Patterson Community Cemetery, Patterson. Memorials suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
