Robbed of their season-opening meet back on Friday, April 4 due to inclement weather, Owensville Middle School (OMS) track athletes coached by Matt Candrl finally got to open their season last Monday on their home track at Dutchmen Field during the annual OMS Open last Monday.
Starting the meet on the track, OMS’ Dutchmen had two 4x800-meter relay teams.
Placing fourth in 11:45.44 was the team of Grayson Lairmore, Max Altemeyer, Dylan Dietrich and Seth Mitcham while the team of Robbie Rodriguez, Roman Crowe, Logan Hackstedt and Christopher Wehmeyer took seventh in 12:17.90.
Brianna Bodine won Owensville’s first event of the meet claiming the girls 100m hurdles in a first-place time of 18.30.
Ambrosiah Salamone finished right behind Bodine in a second-place time of 19.06.
Mackenzie Tayloe (11th, 20.87) and Kat Buhr (19th, 21.79) also competed for the Dutchgirls in the girls 100m hurdles.
Charley Tayloe led eight Dutchgirls in the girls 100m dash with a 10th-place time of 14.50.
Following Tayloe for OMS were Leah Hays (13th, 14.65), Novalie Schatzler (18th, 14.81), Jordan Duncan (31st, 15.29), Allison Evans (42nd, 15.84), Fozia Babar (52nd, 16.33), Meredith Reed (57th, 16.71) and Kinley Troncin (62nd, 16.98).
In the boys 100m dash, Hunter Downey led 10 Dutchmen sprinters with a sixth-place time of 12.60.
Dutchmen following Downey were Cohen Dare (9th, 12.87), Seth Mitcham (14th, 13.64), Peyton Pohlmann (18th, 13.87), Ricky Ringeisen (19th, 14.00), Cassius Criswell (22nd, 14.23), Davey Nichols (24th, 14.30), Logan Quick (26th, 14.58), Bo Nowack-Schlottog (32nd, 15.25) and Logan Hackstedt (38th, 16.96).
In the girls 4x200m relay, there was also two Dutchgirl quartets.
Taking fourth in 2:11.80 was the team of Brailie Crosby, Aubrey Mogenson, Hays and Duncan while the team of Mackenzie Tayloe, Makala Tayloe, Buhr and Babar took fifth in 2:15.12.
Rodriguez led five Dutchmen in the top 20 of the boys 1600m run with a ninth-place time of 6:19.03.
Finishing behind Rodriguez were Lairmore (10th, 6:22.44), Wehmeyer (12th, 6:26.56), Altemeyer (18th, 7:00.00) and Dietrich (19th, 7:01.57).
Babar (15th, 1:28.81) and Lahela Wood (17th, 1:30.29) ran a lap for OMS’ Dutchgirls in the girls 400m dash.
Two Dutchgirls foursomes also were among the field of teams in the girls 4x100m relay.
Taking sixth in 1:03.91 was the quartet of Kiera Hamm, Evans, Salamone and Mogenson while the Dutchgirl foursome of Mackenzie Tayloe, Meredith Reed, Wood and Bodine placed seventh in 1:05.09.
Sprinting to sixth place in the boys 4x100m relay in 57.15 was the Dutchmen team of Dare, Nichols, Losch and Mitcham.
Rodriguez led a trio of OMS Dutchmen in the boys 800m run with a fourth-place time of 2:52.00 followed by Lairmore (8th, 2:56.70) and Altemeyer (15th, 3:23.90).
Placing second in the boys 4x400m relay was the Dutchmen quartet of Trace Lange, Dare, Wehmeyer and Downey.
Losch won the boys high jump for the Dutchmen clearing 1.52m.
Fellow Dutchmen in the event included Bo Buddemeyer (5th, 1.47m), Lange (8th, 1.42m), Roman Crowe (13th, 1.32m), Pohlmann (14th, 1.32m), Lairmore (15th, 1.32m) and Quick (16th, 1.27m).
Salamone (3rd, 1.85m) and Hamm (7th, 1.55m) picked up Dutchgirl team points in the girls pole vault.
Brandon Lenauer led four Dutchmen in the top 10 of the boys pole vault clearing 2.15m placing second.
Joining Lenauer in the top 10 were Buddemeyer (4th, 2.15m), Losch (6th, 2.00m) and Lucas Staton (10th, 1.85m).
Buhr (5th, 3.78m) and Bodine (7th, 3.74m) earned more Dutchgirl team points in the girls long jump.
Maci Armstrong led eight Dutchgirls in the girls discus with a sixth-place throw of 16.95m.
Following Armstrong in the event were Ellie Bay (10th, 16.21m), Adelyn McDonald (14th, 14.74m), Isabella Bingaman (19th, 13.30m), Troncin (21st, 12.78m), Schatzler (24th, 12.07m), Audrey Herbel (26th, 11.48m) and Alivia Vinhland (30th, 10.22m).
Tucker Crosby led five Dutchmen in the boys discus with a fifth-place throw of 27.62m.
Finishing behind Crosby were Pohlmann (7th, 25.92m), Braylyn Reed (8th, 25.83m), Connor Henderson (14th, 22.27m) and Barrett Claspbill (27th, 10.72m).
Bingaman led eight Dutchgirls in the girls shot put with a 15th-place throw of 6.90m.
She was followed by Armstrong (16th, 6.72m), McDonald (17th, 6.68m), Troncin (18th, 6.65m), Bay (26th, 5.65m), Vinhland (29th, 4.33m), Emily Tune (30th, 4.22m) and Herbel (31st, 4.18m).
Buddemeyer led six Dutchmen in the boys shot put with a fourth-place throw of 9.74m followed by Reed (7th, 9.00m), Henderson (18th, 6.71m), Kayden Mitcham (19th, 6.69m), Hackstedt (20th, 6.60m) and Claspbill (25th, 5.27m).
Brailie Crosby (2nd, 30.43) and Makala Tayloe (3rd, 30.44) scored team points for the Dutchgirls in the girls 200m dash.
Jace Duerr also posted a 21st-place time of 31.99 in the boys 200m dash.
As a team, OMS’ Dutchmen placed fifth with 57 points while their Dutchgirl counterparts were sixth with 51 points.
