Last Thursday, July 30, a body was discovered in the vicinity of County Line Road, just west of Gerald.
Friday morning Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton issued a press release. He noted a call was placed to his office at 2:12 p.m. July 30, that a body had been discovered in a field in the 700 block of DaniMac Lane, off of County Line Road.
When deputies arrived on scene they found a vehicle apparently stuck in a field. There was an unidentified body laying near the vehicle.
Pelton says that due to decomposition, the body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office to assist in the identification.
Monday, Aug. 3, Pelton noted the body had been identified as Jacob N. Spaunhorst, 27, of Gerald.
Pelton also said, “There was nothing suspicious located to indicate a cause of death at this time.”
A coworker of Spaunhorst said that the young man had not shown up for work last week. A friend reported last seeing him Saturday, July 25. It is believed a different coworker found the body.
Pelton did not respond to an inquiry as to time of death or if a missing person report had been filed.
