Breaking News: Jakobs sentenced

Posted

Although federal guidelines would have allowed a sentence of 46 to

57 months, The Honorable  Rodney W. Sippel ordered Bill A. Jakob to

serve 60 months in federal prison.

Before handing down the 5 year sentence, Sippel asked Jakob if he

wished to address the court. “If there is anything you would like to

say, now is the time,” the judge told the defendant.

“No, sir,” Jakob replied.

The sentence results from charges stemming from two separate incidents. The first involves Jakob’s tenure in Gerald as a fake federal officer. The second occurred during his stint with Total Lock and Supply Company in Maryland Heights when as a salesman for that company, he faked orders from the Army Corps of Engineers.

Jakob was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $30,000 to Total Lock. In addition, Jakob was assessed $100 per count in special fees, which totaled $2,300 due on the day of sentencing.

Joel Schwartz, attorney for Jakob requested that Jakob serve his time at the federal facility in Texarkana, Texas. That prison provides educational and technical training and is also the closest facility to Washington, Mo. where Jakob lives with his family.

Asked when Jakob would report to prison, Schwartz told reporters, “We expect the Bureau of Prisons would give him designation in the next three to four weeks.”

In the meantime, Jakob remains at home to celebrate the holidays with his family.
