Catherine Joann Bunners, 65, of Windermere, Fla., formerly of Owensville, a vibrant and loving presence in the lives of her family and community, passed away on June 8, 2026.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1960, the beloved daughter of  the late Earl and Shirley Freie, in Jefferson City.

She grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family and the spirited community of Owensville.

Catherine’s life was a testament to her unwavering zest for life and her profound love for those around her.

A graduate of Owensville High School in 1979 she was not only an exemplary student but also an active member of the choir and cheerleading squad. Her musical talents shone brightly as the lead clarinet chair in the high school band, a role she cherished dearly. Catherine pursued higher education at East Central College, where she earned her Associate degree in banking in 1981.

Her career began at the local bank in Owensville, where she worked until 1989. Catherine’s dedication and passion were evident in every position she held, from teller to account management and deposits. Her commitment extended beyond the bank, as she devoted time to her father’s newspaper delivery business, helping to deliver newspapers with care and diligence.

Catherine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wayne Bunners on Aug. 27, 1988, in a beautiful ceremony in Jefferson City. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Catherine and Wayne were blessed with a daughter, Bianca, who was the light of their lives. Catherine’s devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she found immense joy in spending time with them.

Her interests and hobbies were as vibrant as her personality. An avid Disney fan, she delighted in visiting theme parks and dining with her favorite characters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Her love for the St. Louis Cardinals was matched by her enthusiasm for football and playing Animal Crossing with Bianca. Catherine was a devoted collector of all things Snoopy, her affection for Peanuts a testament to her playful spirit.

Her friends and family remember Catherine as a beautiful soul with a shining personality. Always ready to solve problems, dance, and spread joy, she was a source of comfort and happiness to everyone she met. Her laughter was infectious, and her kindness knew no bounds.

She was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Shirley.

Catherine is survived by husband, Wayne; and daughter, Bianca, both of Windermere, Fla.
