Cheryl Ellen Jett, 79, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at Midtowne Assisted Living and Memory Care in Waxahachie, Texas.
She was born April 18, 1944, to Henry and Loretta (Fisher) Murray in Owensville.
Cheryl was a 1962 graduate of Owensville High School and went on to graduate college at Southwest Missouri State. A long-time high school French and Spanish teacher, one of Cheryl’s great joys was taking her students on trips through Europe. Cheryl was an active member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Spring, Texas, for many years and a member of Pan American Round Table of Conroe, Texas. She enjoyed volunteering for her church and clubs, spending time with her pets, gardening and foreign travel.
Cheryl was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Loretta; and brother, Mark Murray.
She is survived by sons, Kent Jett and wife Emily of Waxahachie, Texas, and Todd Jett and wife Leslie of Hilltop Lakes, Texas; sister, Cindy Olson and husband Robert of Webster Groves; and grandchildren, Andrew Jett of Waxahachie, Texas, and Aaron Jett of Austin, Texas.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, with Kevin Sullivan officiating. Burial was at the Owensville City Cemetery.
