Clarence Edward “Ed” Meyer, 92, of Hermann, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann.

He was born Feb. 22, 1931, to Clarence C. and Hilda (Horstmann) Meyer in Washington.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy “D.J.” Bouldien, June 29, 1957, in Memphis, Tenn.

Clarence served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann.

He was the president and owner of the C.E. Meyer Corporation of Memphis. For 20 years his company was trusted by families in Memphis to care for their fine carpets, upholstery and Oriental rugs.

Clarence is preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Hilda; wife of over 60 years, Dorothy “D.J.”; son, Stephen Meyer; one grandson; brother, Ken Meyer; and brother-in-law, Frank Struttman.

He is survived by daughter, Cynthia Meyer Smith and husband John Michael, of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Lynda Meyer, of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren; brother, Eldon Meyer and wife Maggie of Hermann; sister, Mary Struttman of Hermann; and sister-in-law, RuthAnn Meyer of St. Peters.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9–11 a.m., at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m, with Rev. Andy Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Hermann Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to Parkinson’s Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
