Owensville Chamber of Commerce secretary Sherri Durbin cuts a mesh ribbon held by Owensville High School student David Levin on Monday afternoon as members of the school’s DECA chapter decorate the community Christmas tree. Bryce Kramme hangs ribbons (in back) as Tesa Reed (right) separates decorations. Bob Huesgen makes the electrical connection to an outlet used for city decorations which were hung on Monday morning by city Public Works employees. The tree was being decorated ahead of the Owensville community’s Parade of Lights celebration on Friday evening. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1 when Santa makes his stop at the old library downtown on First Street (directly across from Old World Creations). Musical entertainment is planned by local school choirs and band members. Santa will light the community tree at the corner of First and Peters in the Moose Lodge parking lot. The parade is scheduled to step off at 7:30 with Santa riding an Owensville fire truck.
