County confirms total of four positive COVID-19 cases by Tuesday afternoon

Posted

On Monday, March 23, the Franklin County Health Department (FCHD)was notified of a positive case of COVID-19. The individual, a female in her 50s, is currently at home in isolation, and has been in isolation since onset of symptoms. By Tuesday afternoon, three more cases were confirmed.

Public health officials began an investigation of the first case, speaking with individuals who the patient may have come into contact with before the confirmed diagnosis. Method of transmission is still being investigated. The health department has had full cooperation and assistance from the patient and will continue to be in contact as necessary.

Investigations into the latest three cases are also underway.

The FCHD expects more cases to be confirmed locally as the number of citizens tested increases. We want to again remind the public that we can all do our part to limit the spread of illness by following public health guidance on social distancing, washing hands frequently, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, and staying home while sick.

Residents with questions about COVID-19, including symptoms, may call the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ 24-hour hotline at 877-435-8411. For more information regarding COVID-19 visit: cdc.gov or health.mo.gov.
