Darlene May Stradford, 83, Owensville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at her granddaughter’s home in Belle.
She was born March 12, 1936, to Ora Clifton and Ida May (Rogers) Jett, in Washington.
She was united in marriage to Stanley Stradford, Nov. 13, 1954, in St. Louis.
Darlene was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Owensville. She enjoyed gardening, making crafts and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, Ora and Ida; grandmother, Mary Jett who raised her after her parents died; husband, Stanley; son, Roger Stradford; daughter, Carolyn Stradford-Smith; brothers, Dale Jett and Robert Jett; and sisters, Eunice Hollandsworth and twin sister, Eileen Metzger.
She is survived by daughter, Connie Stradford of Owensville; sisters-in-law, Dorothy “Elvina” Reithemeyer of Foley and Darlene Shoemaker and husband Doyle of Lonedell; brother-in-law, Charles Stradford of Elsberry; grandchildren, Tasha Leake, Erica Smith and husband Justin, Travis Leake, Toni Landrus and husband Travis and Courtney Abel and husband Nathan; and great-grandchildren, Skylar Smith, Levi Lusk, Alexis Leake, Jaden Leake, Tyler Lusk, Gavin Leake, Halle Smith, Baylar Smith, Brylan Leake, Madison Leake, Gracie Mahaney and Carson Mahaney.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Kurrlemeyer officiating. Burial will be at Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.
