Darrel E. Happel, 74, Rhineland, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 at his home.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1951, to the late Alva and Dorothy (Hawkins) Happel in Salem.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis (Randolph) Happel on Aug. 18, 1979, in Salem.
Darrel worked as a diesel mechanic.
He was preceded in death by parents, Alva and Dorothy; and sister, Barbara Berends.
Darrel is survived by wife, Phyllis of Rhineland; daughters, Sabrina Zimmer and husband Shawn of Overland and Stephanie Kinnard and husband Randy of Wright City; brother, Marvin Happel and wife Pat of Salem; sister, Carol Hedrick and husband Ron of Salem; sisters-in-law, GiGi Windau of Foley and Dawn Harmon and husband Michael of Columbia; four grandchildren; and two bonus grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m., Friday, March 6, at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann.
