David “Scott” McGarrah, 55, Hermann, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.
He was born on June 8, 1971, the son of David James and Jeanna (Martin) McGarrah in Neosho.
He graduated from Neosho High School in 1989 and from the University of Missouri with a degree in accounting.
Scott was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Thuy (Dang) McGarrah on May 23, 1998, in Springfield. For 28 beautiful years they built a life filled with devotion, laughter and unwavering partnership. Together, they were blessed with three cherished daughters who were the heart of their world.
He owned and operated a local pharmacy with wife,Thuy for many years.
Scott was an active member of St. George Catholic Church, participated in several community activities and volunteered for many organizations in Hermann.
He loved studying and talking about the United States Constitution and enjoyed spending time with his family. Above all, Scott was a devoted husband, father and son. Family was his greatest joy, and he worked to ensure traditions were passed down through generations. His legacy is one of unity, strength and unconditional love.
Scott was preceded in death by father, David; and grandmothers, Barbara Martin and Barbara McGarrah.
He is survived by wife, Thuy of Hermann; mother, Jeanna of Neosho; daughters, Caitlin, Ashley and Holly McGarrah, all of Hermann; sister, Ginger Kitchen and husband Chuck of Neosho; grandfather, Virgil McGarrah of Joplin; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held Saturday, Aug.15, at St. George Church in Hermann, with Father Philip Niekamp officiating.
