To the Editor:
The Democrats have got so many things wrong in their long letter it’s hard to list them but lets start with Ukraine.
When Obama was president Putin invaded Ukraine and took possession of Crimea and supported rebels in eastern Ukraine. In spite of a commitment from the U.S. and Great Britain to guarantee the independence of Ukraine , nothing effective was done and Russia took over the area.
When Reagan’s policies lead to the dismemberment of the U.S.S.R., Ukraine became an independent nation. At the time Ukraine possessed the third largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world. In the “Budapest Resolution” the U.S. , U.K. and Russia pledged to respect and guarantee the independence and borders of Ukraine, in return Ukraine sent all the nuclear weapons to Russia for “dismantling.”
Of course Russia ignored the pledge and invaded Ukraine in 2014. The U.S. under Obama did very little to deter Russia and Putin started to make plans to take over all of Ukraine.
When Trump was president he began sending defensive weapons to Ukraine. Putin held off because he wasn’t sure what Trump would do. Putin waited until a weaker president stopped arms shipments and indicated that he was willing to give him part of Ukaraine. Putin quickly decided to take the whole thing, prepared his army and invaded.
Putin was amazed at the resistance from the people of Ukraine and with the belated resumption of U.S. arms shipments Ukraine may be able to resist the invasion.
The other Democrat lies are easily identified by reasonably intelligent readers.
We have to remember that Hillary Clinton still thinks she was cheated out of the 2016 election and carried on a very vicious attack, can we blame Trump for saying the same thing about 2020?
