DeWane Marvin Schneider, 73, Bland, passed away Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 8, 1947, to Marvin F. and Minnie B. (Bock) Schneider. Marvin passed away Sept. 1948. DeWane was five when his mother married Louis J. Piofcyk.

He was united in marriage to Shirley M. Czeschin April 16, 1967, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville.

DeWane was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Owensville Volunteer Fire Department before retiring after 39 years, where he earned a medal of valor; VFW Post 6133, Knights of Columbus and the NRA. He was a 1965 graduate of Owensville R-2 High School and attended Bailey Technical School in St. Louis before enlisting in the U.S. Army in April 1966. After Army schooling on the Chinook Helicopter, DeWane spent a year in Viet Nam (1967-1968) as a Chinook CH-47 Crew Chief. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he and Shirley owned and operated Schneider’s Repair and Service for 25 years, retiring in 2005. He then worked as an appliance installer for Pioneer Appliance until 2010. He loved spending time outdoors including hunting, fishing and farming.

He was preceded in death by parents, Marvin and Minnie; stepfather, Louis; and sister, Darlene Justus.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; children, Kimberli Anne Meyer and husband Kevin; Gayla Marie Bolte and husband Chris and Andrew DeWane Schneider and wife Kelley all of Bland; grandchildren, Kyle Meyer and wife Jodi, Kinsey Brinker and husband Adam, Dominic Drago and wife Katerina; Sofia Drago, and Anya Schneider; step-grandchildren, Colton and Bella Bolte; great-grandchildren, Ellie Brinker and Klint Meyer and expecting an additional great-grandson and a great-granddaughter in December; brothers-in-law Charles (Chuck) Czeschin and wife Donna and Gerald Czeschin; sisters-in-law Joann Hilkerbaumer and husband Kenny and Mary Spurgeon and husband Edwin; and many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 17, from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville with Fr. Wayne Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
