Falling 16-2 against Pacific’s Lady Indians last Thursday at home, Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirls looked to a change of scenery to get back in the win column.
Competing over the weekend in the Warrensburg Softball Tournament, Owensville went 1-1 on Friday before falling 12-7 to Lafayette County on Saturday.
Against Lafayette County, Owensville was led by Ryan Miller with four hits, three runs scored and a run batted in (RBI).
Also collecting hits for the Dutchgirls were Cameron Ryerson, Shae Abernathy, Hannah Keeney, Dallas Miller, Lainey Moss and Kabren Kelley.
Abernathy and Dallas Miller both also drove in a pair of runs in a losing cause for the Dutchgirls against the Lady Huskers.
Kelley took the loss allowing eight runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks to go with two strikeouts over three innings pitched.
During Owensville’s 6-0 victory Friday over Harrisonville, Kelley pitched a complete game one-hit shutout allowing just one walk to go with four strikeouts.
Ryan Miller and Moss both collected two hits against Harrisonville’s Lady Wildcats.
Halle Thompson also scored a team-high two runs against Harrisonville while the quartet of Ryan Miller, Rylee Dare, Ryerson and Abernathy each crossed the plate once.
Falling 7-6 to St. Michael the Archangel, Owensville had a 6-0 lead entering the bottom of the third inning before the Lady Guardians scored seven unanswered runs.
Dare had three hits to lead the Dutchgirls in which two of those were doubles that led to a pair of runs batted in.
Keeney also had a multi-hit game with two doubles against St. Michael the Archangel.
During their 16-2 loss last Thursday at home against Pacific, Dallas Miller walked and scored when Lainey Moss reached on an error later in the inning.
Moss scored Owensville’s final run of the game when Kelley drove her in with a RBI double.
Opening Four Rivers Conference (FRC) play last Tuesday on the road at St. Clair against the Lady Bulldogs, Owensville scored in all five innings of their 18-7 victory while banging out 15 hits.
Against St. Clair, Thompson led the Dutchgirls with three hits and three runs scored while Clara Malkowsky, Ryerson, Abernathy and Moss each had two hits against the Lady Bulldogs.
Moss also drove in a team-high three runs against St. Clair to go along with two RBIs each from Malkowsky, Ryerson and Abernathy.
