Dorothy Lucile Giedinghagen, 103, of Owensville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at Stonebridge of Owensville.

She was born Sept. 14, 1920, to Harry and Edith (Wright) Hendricks in Granite City, Ill.

She was united in marriage to Louis E. Giedinghagen, Nov. 20, 1941, in St. Louis.

Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensville. She accepted Christ as her Savior when she was young and was always ready to share him with others. She earned a degree from Washington University in Librarianship in May 1978.

She was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Edith; husband, Louis; children, Gayle Nieters, David, Daniel and Louis Jr. Giedinghagen, and three children in infancy; brother, Joe Hendricks; and sister Myrtle Hendricks.

She is survived by sons, Gary Giedinghagen of Sumiton, Ala. and Paul Giedinghagen and wife Kathy of Bland; daughter-in-law, Carol Giedinghagen of Richland; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 6, from 4–8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Owensville with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Giedinghagen Cemetery at Mt. Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Missouri Baptist Convention — payable to First Baptist Church.
