Falling 9-2 last Tuesday night at home against St. Francis Borgia’s Lady Knights, Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball team looked to get back to the .500 mark with a victory two nights later last Thursday against Linn’s Lady Wildcats.

Scoring four runs in the bottom of the third and fifth innings, Owensville took advantage of seven Linn errors helping them to an 11-7 victory over the visiting Lady Wildcats.

Ryan Miller led off the bottom of the first inning reach on a throwing error before another error allowed her to circle the bases giving the Dutchgirls a quick 1-0 lead.

Cameron Ryerson then reached on another Linn miscue before a Dallas Miller RBI sacrifice fly allowed her to score and double the OHS lead to 2-0 after one inning.

Linn turned four hits and a pair of Dutchgirls errors into three runs in the top of the second inning giving them a 3-2 lead through two frames.

In the top of the third inning, Linn added two more runs on two hits and a walk before Owensville had an answer in the bottom of the third inning.

Sending 10 batters to the plate, the Dutchgirls scored four runs on four hits, three walks and an error.

Shae Abernathy had an RBI double that scored Hannah Keeney giving the orange and black a 6-5 lead after three innings.

Linn answered quickly with two runs in the top of the fourth inning on a hit and two walks to retake the lead at 7-6 after four innings.

After Halle Thompson pitched a scoreless fifth inning, her Dutchgirl offense turned three errors, two hits and a walk into four runs and a 10-7 lead through five innings.

Thompson had the big blow in the bottom of the fifth with a two-RBI single scoring Dallas Miller and Abernathy.

With Thompson holding Linn scoreless the rest of the contest, Owensville tacked on another insurance tally in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ryerson singled and later scored on a Dallas Miller RBI ground out.

Earning the win in relief of Keeney for the Dutchgirls was Thompson who pitched three and two-thirds innings of one-hit softball allowing two runs and three walks to go along with three strikeouts.

Ryan Miller had a team-high three hits for OHS against Linn while Ryerson and Abernathy also recorded multi-hit games with two hits apiece.

Ryerson also scored a team-leading three runs against Linn while Ryan Miller added two runs scored.

Scoring a run apiece for the Dutchgirls against the visiting Lady Wildcats were Clara Malkowsky, Dallas Miller, Lainey Moss, Josey Williamson, Thompson and Abernathy.
