SULLIVAN — In spite of dropping pool-play action against St. James (54-15) and Sullivan (58-30), Matt Kramme’s Owensville Dutchgirl basketball team still had a shot at leaving the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic (PBHC) with hardware last week facing Salem’s Lady Tigers in the consolation championship game.

Trailing 10-9 after one quarter, Owensville nearly doubled up Salem 29-16 over the next two quarters helping them to a 45-38 victory snapping a five-game losing streak.

Abbey Quilacio and Cameron Ryerson each led the Dutchgirls with 15 points and three assists nearly followed in double figures by Lainey Moss with eight points, four steals and three rebounds.

Shae Abernathy kicked in four points followed closely by Piper Koelling with three points and a team-high five rebounds.

Dutchgirls vs. Sullivan

Falling behind 32-18 at halftime of their final pool play game last Thursday at the PBHC against the host Sullivan Lady Eagles, Kramme’s Dutchgirls were not able to get any closer before dropping a 58-30 decision.

Ryerson showed the way for the Dutchgirls with eight points and eight rebounds while Lauth added seven points and two rebounds off the bench for the orange and black.

Abernathy and Quilacio both added four points while Cambell Schulte hit a second-quarter 3-pointer for three points.

Koelling and Moss rounded out the Dutchgirl scoring against Sullivan with two points apiece.

Sharing team-high rebounding honors with Ryerson, Koelling also grabbed eight rebounds for Kramme’s Dutchgirls.

Dutchgirls vs. St. James

Falling behind 16-2 after one quarter in their PBHC opener last Monday night against St. James, Kramme’s Dutchgirls simply could not overcome St. James’ defensive pressure during their 54-15 loss.

Ryerson led the way for OHS with 10 points four rebounds while Moss scored all three of her points in the second quarter and Koelling capped the Dutchgirl scoring with a third-quarter bucket for two points.

Moss also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and was named to the PBHC All-Tournament Team.

Payge Kemnitzer led St. James with 18 points while Avery Campbell also reached double figures for the Lady Tigers with 13 points.

Kramme’s Dutchgirls will go into 2026 with a 2-6 record and open the new year with a Monday, Jan. 5 road test in Wardsville against Blair Oaks’ Lady Falcons.
