Ending 2025 on a winning note, Matt Kramme’s Owensville Dutchgirl basketball team looked to open 2026 the same way last week with a pair of road games against Blair Oaks’ Lady Falcons and the School of the Osage Lady Indians.
Last Tuesday against Osage, Owensville fell behind 22-7 at halftime before eventually ending up on the wrong side of a 60-17 final score.
Piper Koelling paced the Dutchgirls scoring six of her team-high eight points in the fourth quarter.
Cameron Ryerson added five points with four of those coming in the second half while Cylee Reed added a second-quarter 3-pointer to account for her scoring.
Abbey Quilacio hit a second-quarter free throw for one point to round out Owensville’s scoring against Osage.
Ryerson also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and dished out a team-leading three assists.
Lainey Moss and Reed both led Owensville with two steals apiece.
In action last Monday night at Wardsville against Blair Oaks, Owensville could not overcome a 26-2 first-quarter before falling 55-29 to the Lady Falcons.
Quilacio paced Owensville netting six of her team-high eight points in the second half.
Moss followed close behind with seven points all in the fourth quarter.
Ryerson added six points while Koelling chipped in five points.
Shae Abernathy rounded out the Dutchgirl scoring at Blair Oaks with a second-quarter 3-pointer for three points.
Sharing team-high honors on the glass with six rebounds apiece were Moss and Quilacio.
Reed, Quilacio and Moss each dished out two assists while Ryerson showed the way defensively with four steals.
Owensville will compete throughout the remainder of this week at the Union Girls Basketball Tournament.
