Suffering a season-opening 67-26 set back on Saturday, Nov. 22 in the Blue Fish Shootout at Rolla High School, Matt Kramme’s Owensville Dutchgirl basketball team returned to the road last Tuesday night into northern Osage County to face Chamois’ Pirates.
Jumping out to a 20-1 lead after one quarter, Owensville’s Dutchgirls gave Kramme his first head coaching win following a 56-12 victory.
Cylee Reed led the orange and black with eight first-quarter points followed by six markers from Cameron Ryerson.
More than doubling their point total in the second quarter, Owensville went into halftime with a 42-1 lead behind eight second-quarter points from Abbey Quilacio.
Lainey Moss also chipped six points in the second quarter.
Outscoring Chamois 10-4 in the third quarter, Cambell Schulte and Piper Koelling each led OHS with four points to open the second half helping them to a 52-5 lead with one quarter of basketball to be played.
Ryan Miller and Moss rounded out the Dutchgirl scoring with two points each in the fourth quarter of Owensville’s first victory.
Quilacio showed the way for OHS with 12 points, six steals and three assists.
Koelling also reached double figures in scoring for the Dutchgirls with 10 points, three assists and two steals.
Three Dutchgirls came with a bucket of making it five double-digit scorers with Reed, Ryerson and Moss all finishing with eight points.
Myla Lauth and Schulte each added four points to go along with Miller’s first varsity basket in the fourth quarter.
With the whole first week of December off, Kramme’s Dutchgirls will return to action on Monday, Dec. 8 hosting St. Clair’s Lady Bulldogs in their home and Four Rivers Conference opener with a 5:30 p.m., tip time for junior-varsity action.
