Dutchgirls split FRC action against Pacific, Union

Starting last week off with a 47-36 home victory over Pacific’s Lady Indians at Owensville High School Monday night, Matt Kramme’s Owensville Dutchgirl varsity basketball team looked to make it three Four Rivers Conference (FRC) wins in a row with a road victory last Thursday night against Union’s Lady Wildcats.

Trailing 14-10 after one quarter, Owensville could not overcome a 16-4 difference in the second quarter before going on to fall to the host Lady Wildcats 53-33.

Cameron Ryerson showed the way for the orange and black with 17 points followed by eight markers from Abbey Quilacio.

Cambell Schulte scored all four of her points in the fourth quarter to go along with two points apiece from Piper Koelling and Cylee Reed.

Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville JV Dutchgirls had an 8-7 lead at halftime of their two-quarter contest with Union before falling 12-8 after going scoreless in the second quarter.

Ryan Miller led the way with five points for the orange and black while Shae Abernathy also hit a 3-pointer for three points rounding out the JV Dutchgirl scoring.

Last Monday night hosting Pacific, Kramme’s varsity Dutchgirls led 14-5 after one quarter before pushing their lead into double digits by halftime at 27-15.

Able to keep their lead in double digits the rest of the way, Owensville posted a 47-36 win in front of their home fans.

Ryerson led the Dutchgirls with a game-high 20 points while also posting six rebounds and four assists.

Lainey Moss added eight points and seven rebounds to go along with six points apiece out of Quilacio and Schulte.

Quilacio also added four assists and three rebounds to her six points.

Reed chipped in four points in addition to two points and a team-high nine rebounds from Koelling.

Abernathy also hit a fourth-quarter free throw for one point putting all seven Dutchgirls in the scoring column against Pacific.

Koppelmann’s JV Dutchgirls led 6-3 at halftime before coming up on the short end of a 12-10 final score in spite of four points from Abernathy and three points from Schulte.

Kinley Troncin also scored two points while Meredith Reed also hit a second-quarter free throw for one point.

On the road last night (Tuesday) against Sullivan’s Lady Eagles, Kramme’s Dutchgirls will end their regular season tomorrow (Thursday) night hosting North County’s Lady Raiders for senior night.

Owensville will open first-round action in the upcoming Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 4, District 3 Girls Basketball Tournament at Cuba High School on Monday, March 2 against St. Clair’s Lady Bulldogs.
