PACIFIC — Still looking for their first win of the season, Randy Crowe’s Owensville Dutchmen ventured into Franklin County Friday night to face the Pacific Indians who also entered the game 0-5 and in search of a notch in the win column.

Trailing 7-0 two minutes into the game, Dutchmen quarterback Chase Crosby found the end zone on a 70-yard touchdown run at the 8:25 mark of the opening quarter before Khai Krupp’s extra point tied the game at 7-7.

Unable to contain Pacific’s offense, Owensville eventually went on to end up on the short end of a 61-22 final score.

“We just didn’t have enough of an answer for Pacific’s offense,” Crowe said.

Down 26-7 with 9:59 until halftime, Owensville added to their point total with a play on special teams.

Cohen Dare returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown with 9:43 for the first half before Krupp’s kick left Owensville behind by 12 points at 26-14.

Trailing 40-14 at halftime, Owensville got the ball to start the second half and added to their point total when Crosby found Tim Papenfuss on a 26-yard TD pass with 8:43 for the third quarter.

Crosby then ran in the two-point conversion pulling OHS to within three scores of the Indians at 40-22.

That was as close as Owensville got before Pacific scored three more touchdowns in the second half.

Crosby led the Dutchmen offense going 6-16 passing with 118 yards and a touchdown through the air while also rushing for 77 yards on nine carries and another score.

Returning from injury, Wyatt Lewis also ran the ball four times for 35 yards while Liam Rasmussen also ran the ball seven times for 33 yards.

Papenfuss caught two passes for 58 yards while Rasmussen also had two catches for 34 yards.

Crosby recorded 12 total tackles (9 solo) to pace the Dutchmen defense while Cael Walker and Krupp each recorded eight total stops.

Lewis also finished with seven solo tackles while Mason Turner and Rasmussen both were credited with six total tackles.

Rasmussen also added a sack to his four solo tackles.

Kien Bayless added four total tackles while CJ Perkins chipped in three total stops.

Max Hetsch and Tucker Crosby both had two tackles while Crosby also recorded a sack.

Payten Pendleton and Wyatt Shaw each also added a tackle for OHS.

Last Friday at Union, Peyton Pohlmann and Walker led the OHS defense with four solo tackles apiece.

Rylee Schuchardt, Evan Reed and Dare also both had two tackles at Union.

Owensville will look to snap their 27-game losing streak this Friday night during homecoming hosting St. Clair’s Bulldogs with a 7 p.m., kickoff at Dutchmen Field.
