Dropping all three of their non-conference games against Eldon, St. Francis Borgia and Russellville, Randy Crowe’s Owensville Dutchmen football team looked to snap a 24-game losing streak in their Four Rivers Conference (FRC) opener Friday night at Dutchmen Field against Sullivan’s Eagles.
Battling Sullivan to a scoreless first quarter, Owensville then saw the Eagles score 34 points before halftime and eventually falling 60-6.
Owensville’s lone score came early in the fourth quarter a Chase Crosby 3-yard touchdown run to break up Sullivan’s shutout bid.
Along with his touchdown, Crosby finished with 46 yards rushing on nine carries while also going 5-10 through the air for 80 yards.
Liam Rasmussen had a catch for 37 yards in addition to nine rushing yards on seven carries.
Khai Krupp had two catches for 32 yards while Evan Reed had a catch for five yards receiving.
Cael Walker caught one pass for six yards while also racking up 23 yards rushing on five carries.
Defensively Jack Tesson led Owensville with eight total tackles while Walker had seven total stops.
Braylyn Reed and Krupp each also had six total tackles.
Recording three total tackles each were the Dutchmen trio of Kien Bayless, Max Hetsch and Aiden Carpenter.
Collecting two total tackles apiece were George Wnuk, Reed and Rasmussen.
Dutchmen defenders with one tackle each included Cord Tucker, Cohen Dare, Jonas Gross, Liam Trest, C.J. Perkins, Tucker Crosby, David Levin and Hunter Downey.
Now 0-4 on the season, Owensville will look for their first notch in the win column this Friday night against Union’s Wildcats on the road with a 7 p.m., kickoff against a Union squad that is currently 3-1.
