Owensville’s nearly three-year long wait for the win column came to an end Friday night.

Behind the arm and legs of Owensville Dutchmen senior quarterback Chase Crosby, Randy Crowe’s gridiron squad scored 20 unanswered points after being down 12-6 midway through the second quarter helping them to a 26-12 victory on senior night.

“Our guys simply played awesome tonight,” Crowe said. “I’m so proud of our boys for finally getting into the win column especially on senior night.”

Getting the ball first, Owensville took full advantage on a Crosby 2-yard touchdown run at the 9:55 mark of the opening quarter giving the orange and black an early 6-0 lead.

St. James answered 12 seconds later on a long flea flicker pass that turned into a touchdown tying the game at 6-6 after the first 2-point conversion attempt with 9:43 for the opening quarter.

Tied at 6-6 after one quarter, Owensville saw St. James retake the lead on a short touchdown run with 7:00 for the first half by a score of 12-6.

Owensville tied the game in dramatic fashion on the last play of the half.

Crosby found tight end Max Hetsch on a 28-yard TD pass as time expired at the end of the second quarter.

In spite of the missed extra point, Owensville and St. James went into halftime tied at 12-12.

Needing nearly the whole third quarter to reclaim the lead, OHS went back to the air where Crosby found Khai Krupp on a 65-yard TD strike with :24 for the quarter.

That score gave the Dutchmen an 18-12 lead with one quarter separating them from their first win in nearly three years.

With the defense keeping St. James off the scoreboard, Owensville’s offense struck again with 4:17 remaining when Crosby found Cohen Dare on a 68-yard TD pass.

Crosby then found Krupp for the two-point conversion giving Owensville their final margin of victory.

Making his passes count all night, Crosby went 5-7 through the air for 179 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 68 yards rushing on 12 carries and a touchdown.

Liam Rasmussen also ran for 67 yards on eight carries during his final regular-season game at Dutchmen Field.

Cohen Dare also had five carries for nine yards rushing while Cael Walker also had a yard rushing on one carry.

Rylee Schuchardt led the Dutchmen sack attack with two followed with one each from Wyatt Lewis, Payten Pendleton and Hetsch.

Rasmussen led the Dutchmen in tackling with nine total tackles while Crosby added seven solo stops and Wyatt Shaw chipped in six total tackles and a tackle for loss.

Lewis, Walker and Schuchardt each also had five total tackles to go along with three total stops from Evan Reed.

Recording one tackle apiece for the victorious Dutchmen were Jack Tesson, Kien Bayless, Braylyn Reed, Tucker Crosby, Hetsch and Pendleton.

Owensville will look to snap a five-game losing streak tomorrow (Thursday) night against Hermann’s Bearcats in the annual Gasconade County Bowl football game at Bearcat Memorial Stadium with a 7 p.m., kickoff.
