Dutchmen track advances 10 athletes to sectionals

MONTGOMERY CITY — Adjusting to a new postseason path.

Placed in the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3, District 3 track meet at Montgomery County High School, Matt Candrl’s Owensville Dutchmen will see their postseason path to Jefferson City trek north instead of southwest.

Junior Landon Losch punched Owensville’s first individual ticket to sectionals with a fourth-place time of 16.11 in the boys 110-meter hurdles.

Freshman Chase Crosby had a huge personal record (PR) in the boys high jump to earn his sectional spot placing second with a clearing height of 1.85m.

Three out of the four OHS relay teams placed fourth to earn their spots during this Saturday’s MSHSAA Class 3, Sectional 2 track meet at Paris High School.

Taking fourth in a time of 1:36.39 in the boys 4x200m relay was the Dutchmen foursome of Johannes Berg, Jordan Bialczyk, Isaiah Gates and Ethan Harris.

Later in the meet, OHS also took fourth in the boys 4x100m relay with a time of 44.68 by the team of Connor Wellman, Ricardo Marquez, Gates and Berg.

Ending the meet with a fourth-place time of 3:38.51 was the Dutchmen boys 4x400m relay team of Felix Guerrero, Crosby, Harris and Berg.

Trenton Million extended his season by another week clearing 4.07m in the boys pole vault good for second place.

Eli Graham threw his way into three events this Saturday winning the boys discus with a throw of 45.89m while placing second in the boys shot put with a throw of 13.58m. He also placed fourth with a toss of 42.80m in the boys javelin.

“Eli had an amazing day and performed very well in all three of his events,” Candrl said.

Losch (3rd, 43.22) and Berg (4th, 43.78) also advanced to sectionals grabbing the final two qualifying spots in the boys 300m hurdles.

Just missing sectionals with a fifth-place time of 8:48.67 in the boys 4x800m relay was the OHS squad of Drake Dietrich, Zach Holtmeyer, Harris and Guerrero.

Cody Lenauer (13th, 55.27) and Xavier Bayless (14th, 55.43) ran a lap around the track for Owensville in the boys 400m dash.

Jayden Stewart ended his junior season of OHS track with a 10th-place leap of 10.68m in the boys triple jump.

Brandon Graham finished his junior season with a 12th-place throw of 10.91m in the boys shot put.

Hayden Shoemaker ended his OHS track career after a 13th-place mark of 31.62m in the boys discus.

Kyle Bollman completed his junior season with a 13th-place time of 11:53.29 in the boys 3200m run.

“Our boys team has performed exceptionally well this season,” Candrl said. “I’ve been impressed with their leadership and team dynamic.”
