After seeing their season end at the hands of the Lift for Life Academy Charter Hawks nearly two weeks ago, Jed Leeper’s Hermann Bearcat football team learned Monday that eight of their players earned postseason honors from the coaches in the Four Rivers Conference (FRC).

Four gridiron Bearcats earned First Team All-FRC honors in Trent Lampkin (quarterback), Daeden Hopkins (tight end and defensive lineman), Brady Grosse (linebacker) and Nolan Brune (defensive back).

Throwing for 2,283 yards while completing just over 60 percent of his passes (165-271), Lampkin also threw for 25 touchdowns through the air compared to just seven interceptions.

Lampkin threw for a season-high 307 yards on 22-36 passing with two touchdowns in their season-opening loss at Montgomery County.

He also threw four touchdowns in a pair of wins for the Bearcats.

During Hermann’s 63-0 shutout on the road at Cuba, Lampkin was a perfect 6-6 through the air for 210 yards and four touchdowns.

In their 36-35 come-from-behind victory at Sullivan, the Bearcat signal caller went 19-30 for 287 yards and four touchdowns.

Catching 35 balls for 372 yards receiving and six touchdowns, Mercier recorded half of his touchdowns against the Eagles while also catching seven passes for a season-high 106 receiving yards.

Utilizing his height very well, Hopkins earned First Team All-FRC honors on both sides of the football at tight end and as a defensive lineman.

Catching 50 passes for 691 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns, Hopkins reached triple digits in receiving yards during two games.

In their season opener at Montgomery County, Hopkins caught nine passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.

He also went over the century mark in their 29-20 home win over St. James with six catches for 111 yards receiving against the Tigers.

Hopkins also caught a season-high two touchdown passes in wins over Cuba and Owensville.

Defensively, Hopkins tied for second on the team with 67 total tackles to go along with a team-leading nine sacks.

Posting a season-high 10 tackles against St. Clair, Hopkins recorded a season-high three sacks in Hermann’s 27-14 district-opening win over Montgomery County avenging their season-opening loss to the Wildcats.

Hopkins also posted two sacks each in wins over South Callaway and St. James.

At linebacker, Grosse led the Bearcats with 103 total tackles to go along with two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a sack.

Posting double-digit tackles in five of Hermann’s 11 games, Grosse recorded a season-high 19 total tackles against Sullivan followed closely by 18 total stops in home action against St. Clair.

Adding 11 tackles against South Callaway, Grosse posted 10 tackles against St. James and Owensville.

At defensive back, Brune recorded 54 total tackles to go with two interceptions, a sack and a fumble recovery.

Brune’s recorded a baker’s dozen 13 tackles against St. Clair while recording both of his interceptions against Owensville during their 35-12 homecoming and Gasconade County Bowl victory.

Adding to his First-Team All-FRC nod at defensive back, Brune also was named a Second Team All-FRC running back.

Finishing with 381 yards rushing on 63 carries and six touchdowns, Brune posted a season-high 85 yards rushing on four carries and two touchdowns against St. Clair. He also rushed for 76 yards on three carries and two touchdowns at Cuba.

Helping Hermann string together almost 3,800 yards of total offense were All-FRC linemen Grosse (second team) and Khale McFadden (honorable mention).

Along with Grosse, Hermann’s Eric Williams also earned Honorable Mention All-FRC accolades as a defensive lineman.

Recording 40 total tackles for the season, Williams saved his best for last with a season-high 11 total tackles in Hermann’s district semifinal loss to Lift for Life.
