Fidelity Communications to build fiber optic network in Gerald, Rosebud

Posted

Fidelity Communications on Tuesday announced it will invest $1.3 million to build a fiber optic network in Gerald and Rosebud which will provide the fastest and most reliable internet service to residents and businesses in both communities.

Fidelity, now part of the Cable One family of brands, plans to start constructing a state-of-the-art, all-fiber network delivering symmetrical speeds up to 1 Gig for and business customers this month, according to a news release. Gig speeds allow faster downloads and uploads, enhanced video, real-time gaming and uninterrupted connections in multi-device homes.

The company’s new fiber network will provide Gerald and Rosebud residents and businesses extra capacity to grow as new technology develops, and as an increasing number of in-home devices and business solutions require advanced internet connectivity.

“Access to fast and reliable high-speed internet is critical, especially now, when our customers are staying connected to family, work, school, and entertainment from home,” said Sam McGill, general manager for Fidelity’s Missouri markets. “We are thrilled to build a cutting-edge network in both Gerald and Rosebud. The digital needs of our residential and business customers are advancing rapidly, and we are actively working to stay ahead of those needs by creating a fast and reliable network that will support next generation technology.”

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin April 19.

During construction, Fidelity will add new fiber to the area, and later, remove copper cable currently in use. This will allow current customers to keep their existing services while the new network is constructed.
