Florence Emily Helmig, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Owensville.
She was born April 29, 1937, to the late Opal Schulte and James Davis in Owensville.
She was united in marriage to Billy R. Helmig on Dec. 23, 1981.
Florence grew up in Drake as a child, and later moved to Glencoe where she attended Eureka Elementary School. She later moved to Owensville where she raised her family.
Florence worked at Brown Shoe Company until they closed and then she started a cleaning company in her retirement.
She took pride in her home and her family, and she also took pride in the work she did for others.
Florence loved to polka and to fish and she enjoyed playing cards, walking at the park and tending to her roses; often showing them off to friends and family.
She was a beautiful soul who was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Florence was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Opal; son, Brion Peanick; brothers, Ronald, David, Gary and Anthony Davis; and sister, Lillian Dowell.
She is survived by husband of 44 years, Bill; siblings, Stanley Davis and Mary Miller, Martha Brashar and Mary Beth Johnson; children, April Miner and Wayne Helmig; grandchildren, Chi Holder, Brandy Peanick and Chris and Calvin Helmig; great-grandchildren, Damon and Darion Signaigo and Jack and Lily Holder; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Interment was in Countryside Memorial Gardens.
