ROSEBUD. — The public is invited to a free showing of The Trail State on Friday, Sept. 25, at the Rosebud RV Park Banquet Room. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the approximately one-hour film beginning at 7 p.m.
“The Trail State” is a new documentary exploring how Missouri transformed former railroad corridors into some of the nation’s most celebrated trails. Completing the Rock Island Trail could build on that success.
At the heart of the film is Missouri’s 237-mile Katy Trail, an abandoned rail corridor transformed into a statewide destination. It connects communities, businesses, history and outdoor recreation.
The documentary looks at the next major opportunity: development of the Rock Island Trail and the vision of connecting it with the Katy Trail to create a continuous trail loop across Missouri.
The film also highlights the potential benefits for small towns along the Rock Island corridor including tourism, economic development, outdoor recreation and renewed connections among communities.
The Trail State was conceived and executive produced by Magnificent Missouri and directed and produced by Once Films of St. Louis. The documentary premiered Sept. 22 at the Missouri History Museum, with a Nine PBS broadcast for Oct. 12 scheduled.
The community is encouraged to attend, learn more about Missouri’s trail story and see the vision for what the Rock Island Trail could mean for not only Rosebud, but communities across the state.
