A Gerald man received minor injuries during a one-vehicle accident on Monday afternoon when his 1998 Ford Ranger struck a fence before entering a pond.

Owensville Fire Department (OFD) responded to a rescue call around 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 4 along State Highway 19, one mile south of Rural Route E in Gasconade County. When they arrived on scene, they located Christopher M. Crawford, 35, out of the vehicle and speaking with law enforcement.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol Crash Report (MSHP) by Troop F, Crawford’s 1998 Ford Ranger traveled off of the left side of the roadway, collided with a fence post and traveled into a pond.

According to OFD, several units responded to the water source, including the department’s rescue boat, Herman Area EMS, members of the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office and MSHP.

Several crew members and the OFD diver remained on scene to recover the vehicle.

Crawford, who was wearing a safety belt, was transported by Hermann EMS to Hermann Hospital. The vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene by Triple L. Towing.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. K.M. Kreftmeyer, assisted by Trooper A.J. O’Brien and the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office.
