Tuesday, April 4, voters reported to their polling place to let their voices be heard on local candidates and tax issues.
At noon, 91 voters had cast their ballots. That would indicate much more voter interest than in years past.
During the last municipal election, held April 5, 2022, there were only 107 ballots cast the entire day. With 1,535 registered voters at that time, that is a turnout rate of 6.07 percent.
In 2021, only 813 voters came to vote.
This year’s higher turnout is likely due to the tax/bond issues on the ballot.
Election results will not be available before press time this week. A full report can be found in next week’s issue of The Republican.
