Helen Baumgartner

Helen Marie Baumgartner, 86, Belle, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville. 

She was born May 12, 1933, to Parm and Eva (Woodruff) Southard, in Highgate.

She was united in marriage to Ivan Baumgartner, June 30, 1951, in Salem, Ark.

Helen was a lifelong area resident, a member of the Highgate Baptist Church and a 1951 graduate of Belle High School.  She was employed as a seamstress at California Manufacturing in St. James for almost 30 years before retiring and also served as the shop steward for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America Union. She continued employment at Cotton Belle in Belle where she completed her lifelong seamstress career.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Wallace Southard and wife Geneva and Glenis Southard and wife Iris; two infant brothers; and sister-in-law, Iva Kearns.

She is survived by children, Lance Baumgartner of Belle, LouAnn Baumgartner of Lee’s Summit, Debbie Baumgartner-Gray of Belle and Daryl Baumgartner and wife Julie of Belle; brother-in-law, Terry Baumgartner and wife Nancy; and nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Her body was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
