Herbert Harold Schaefferkoetter, 90, of Owensville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at his residence.
He was born May 20, 1933, to Ben and Orella (Willimann) Schaefferkoetter in Stony Hill.
He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Kreftmeyer, Nov. 19, 1955, in Leslie.
Herbert had served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Gerald where he loved singing in the choir. He also enjoyed fishing, dancing and being with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Orella; wife, Rose Marie; son, Dennis; and siblings, Bob and Raymond and Darleen Gooch.
He is survived by children, Kenny Schaefferkoetter and wife Shelley of Owensville and Bob Schaefferkoetter and wife Deborah of Washington; siblings, Benny Schaefferkoetter and wife Martha of High Ridge, Margaret Harrison of DeSoto and Harvey Schaefferkoetter of Utah; and by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 13, from 10–11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Gerald.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rhonda Winters officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.
