OWENSVILLE — Making the short trek into southern Gasconade County, Hermann High School (HHS) track and field athletes coached by Tony Terry, Jr., competed last Friday in the Owensville High School (OHS) Relays at OHS’ Dutchmen Field.
Hermann’s Lady Bearcats showed the way finishing third in the girls team standings with 88.5 points behind Owensville (132.5) and Potosi (115.5).
Scoring the first team points for the Lady Bearcats was the girls 4x200-meter relay team of Tenley McFadden, Brooklyn McCurdy, Makayla Nicholson and Erika Schutt with a third-place time of 1:59.51.
Also taking third in the girls 4x400m relay for Hermann was the Lady Bearcat foursome of Morgan Penning, Nicholson, Schutt and McFadden.
Faith Gabathuler picked up eight team points for Hermann with her second-place throw of 10.44m in the girls shot put.
Delaney Williams (8th, 8.50m) and Katelyn Krueger (9th, 8.40m) also threw in the top 10 of the girls shot put for the Lady Bearcats.
Alaina Powers left Owensville with a silver medal for her second-place mark of 32.86m in the girls discus.
Gabathuler (4th, 31.60m) and Krueger (12th, 24.54m) also threw for Hermann in the girls discus.
Ashlyn Hughes added to Hermann’s silver haul with a second-place throw of 33.50m in the girls javelin while Alivia Witthaus (5th, 27.55m) and Heidi Brinker (16th, 18.05m) also threw for the blue and white.
Jillian Frederick finished in a four-way tie for fifth place clearing 1.35m in the girls high jump.
McFadden (2nd, 10.21m) and Adlee LaBruyere (4th, 9.18m) also scored Lady Bearcat team points in the girls triple jump.
Taya Thurman posted her best finish at Owensville for Hermann with a 10th-place time of 1:02.26 in the girls 300m hurdles.
Eileen Swofford (2nd, 14:55.18) and Grace Engemann (6th, 16:32.05) scored team points for Hermann in the girls 3200m run.
Sprinting to fourth place in the girls 4x100m relay for the Lady Bearcats was the team of LaBruyere, Brinker, Nicholson and Hughes in a time of 55.92.
Taking third in the girls 4x100m throwers relay in a time of 1:04.26 was the Lady Bearcat quartet of Witthaus, Gabathuler, Krueger and Powers.
McFadden, McCurdy, Nicholson and Schutt also posted a third-place time of 1:59.51 for Hermann in the girls 4x200m relay.
Kylie Helmig (9th, 2.40m), Fynnlee Riffle (10th, 2.25m) and Callie Borzillo (11th, 2.25m) competed for Hermann in the girls pole vault.
Taylor Carver also placed 12th for the Lady Bearcats in the girls long jump with a leap of 3.20m.
Placing seventh with 55.5 team points at Owensville, Hermann’s Bearcats were led by Ryker Ash with a second-place time of 24.61in the boys 200m dash and a third-place time of 43.85 in the boys 300m hurdles. He also placed sixth in the boys 100m dash in 12.18.
Eric Chorley (7th, 5:35.07) and Chase Branson (8th, 5:35.24) picked up three Bearcat team points with their finishes in the boys 1600m run.
Chorley was also sixth in the boys 3200m run with a time of 11:43.56.
Taking seventh in the boys 4x200m relay for the Bearcats in a time of 1:49.17 was the team of Holden Schales, Sawyer Moore, Roman Martin and Ashton Rucker.
Ending the meet on the track with a fifth-place time of 3:56.68 in the boys 4x400m relay for Hermann was the squad of Tayven Hopkins, Rucker, Martin and Ash.
Victor Loaiza (21st, 9.46m), Nathon Wheeler (22nd, 9.23m) and Layne Bader (23rd, 8.93m) threw for Hermann in the boys shot put.
Elliot Geers (21st, 23.48m), Spencer Head (23rd, 21.06m) and Gaige Nilges (24th, 20.28m) also competed for the Bearcats in the boys discus.
Hopkins cleared 1.75m in the boys high jump to earn a silver medal.
Colin Nunnally (9th, 5.53m) and Gavyn Theissen (11th, 5.38m) finished around the top 10 in the boys long jump for Hermann.
Nunnally also won the boys triple jump with a leap of 12.70m while Martin took fourth with a leap of 11.76m.
Bearcat Memorial Stadium will play host to the Hermann Invitational Track Meet tomorrow (Thursday) with events beginning at 4 p.m.
