NEW HAVEN — After the final athlete crossed the finish line during last Friday’s Four Rivers Conference (FRC) Track Meet at New Haven High School, Hermann High School (HHS) track and field athletes coached by Tony Terry Jr., earned All-FRC honors in nine events at the varsity level.
Senior Nolan Kopp was one of three Bearcats to capture individual FRC titles by winning the boys 3200-meter run in a new FRC meet record time of 9:45.65.
Kopp’s time broke the old record of 9:45.84 by former St. Clair High School distance runner Dustin Dixon from back in 2005.
Along with Kopp, Hermann’s Eric Chorley just missed scoring a team point in the varsity boys 3200m run with a ninth-place time of 11:30.50.
A handful of events prior to that, Bearcat junior Ryker Ash ran a lap to an individual FRC title in the boys 400m dash with a first-place time of 51.68.
Ash also scored team points in the boys 200m dash (4th, 23.76) and the boys 100m dash (8th, 11.92).
Hermann’s final individual FRC title came in the field when junior Tayven Hopkins won the boys high jump clearing 1.90m while tying the school record in the process.
Senior Ashton Rucker also scored five Bearcat team points placing fourth in the boys high jump clearing 1.65m.
Colin Nunnally picked up a silver medal and All-FRC honors placing second in the boys triple jump with a leap of 12.17m while teammate Roman Martin also earned two team points with his seventh-place leap of 11.25m.
Adding to his FRC title in the boys 3200m run, Kopp also earned All-FRC honors in the boys 800m run (2nd, 2:03.77) and the boys 1600m run (3rd, 4:29.63).
Bracksten Carr posted his best finish at New Haven in the boys 110m hurdles with a fifth-place time of 19.59 while also placing 10th in the boys 300m hurdles in 50.63.
Capping the meet with four team points in the boys 4x400m relay with a fifth-place time of 3:49.80 was the Bearcat foursome of Hopkins, Kopp, Martin and Ash.
Nathon Wheeler (17th, 9.76m), Spencer Head (20th, 8.41m) and Gaige Nilges (21st, 7.31m) competed for Hermann in the varsity boys shot put.
Improving their positions from the shot put in the varsity boys discus from Hermann were Wheeler (16th, 26.45m), Head (17th, 23.40m) and Nilges (18th, 22.73m).
Ashlyn Hughes paced the Lady Bearcats in New Haven earning All-FRC honors with a second-place throw of 35.40m in the varsity girls javelin.
Alivia Witthaus (5th, 31.03m) and Allison Brown (9th, 24.97m) also threw the javelin for the Lady Bearcats.
Alaina Powers also threw her way to All-FRC honors and a silver medal with her second-place throw of 32.62m in the varsity girls discus while Faith Gabathuler also scored team points with her fourth-place throw of 28.14m.
Gabathuler claimed FRC bronze with a third-place throw of 9.92m in the girls shot put while Katelyn Krueger (7th, 8.94m) and Delaney Williams (12th, 8.26m) also competed for the Lady Bearcats.
Leading Lady Bearcat relay teams in New Haven was the girls 4x400m relay team of Tenley McFadden, Brooklyn McCurdy, Makayla Nelson and Morgan Penning with a fifth-place time of 4:43.05.
Also taking fifth in the girls 4x200m relay for Hermann was the Lady Bearcat varsity foursome of Jillian Fredrick, McFadden, Penning and Nicholson in a time of 2:00.09.
Sprinting to seventh place and two Lady Bearcat team points in the girls 4x100m relay was the squad of Adlee LaBruyere, Heidi Brinker, Fredrick and Hughes in a time of 55.05.
Krystal Strubberg (12th, 15.02) and Callie Borzillo (14th, 16.06) sprinted down the track for Hermann in the varsity girls 100m dash.
Elaina Uthlaut narrowly missed the top 10 of the varsity girls 800m run for Hermann with an 11th-place time of 2:57.72.
Eileen Swofford (14th, 6:49.81) and Grace Engemann (15th, 7:05.68) took four laps around the track for the Lady Bearcats in the varsity girls 1600m run.
Swofford (7th, 14:37.46) and Engemann (8th, 15:28.98) also ran in the girls 3200m run for Hermann.
Kylie Helmig (4th, 2.25m) and Borzillo (5th, 2.25m) rounded out the top five of the varsity girls pole vault for the Lady Bearcats.
