HHS Track and Field teams place fourth at Linn

LINN — Competing against a field including 15 schools last Monday in the Linn High School Invitational Track Meet, Hermann’s Bearcats and Lady Bearcats placed fourth in the respective team’s standings.

Nolan Kopp showed the way for the Bearcats winning both the boys 800-meter and 1600m runs in times of 2:03.02 and 4:30.21 respectively.

Chase Branson also scored a Bearcat team point with his eighth-place time of 2:20.16 in the boys 800m run while Eric Chorley placed ninth in the boys mile with a time of 5:22.49.

Tayven Hopkins won the boys high jump clearing 1.85m while Colin Nunnally also topped the field in the boys triple jump with a winning leap of 12.10m.

Ryker Ash added numerous team points for the Bearcats with a second-place time of 11.40 in the boys 100-meter dash to go along with another second-place time of 51.77 in the boys 400m dash.

Bracksten Carr picked up three team points with a sixth-place time of 18.97 in the boys 110m hurdles.

Taking fourth in the boys 4x200m relay for the Bearcats in a time of 1:38.36 was the foursome of Roman Martin, Hopkins, Nunnally and Ash.

Posting a second-place time of 3:45.06 in the boys 4x400m relay for Hermann was the squad of Hopkins, Kopp, Martin and Ash.

Layne Bader (17th, 9.31m) and Victor Loaiza (18th, 9.10m) posted their best throwing marks for Hermann in the boys shot put.

Elliott Geers also placed 20th in the boys javelin with a mark of 25.06m.

Ashton Rucker also tied for fifth in the boys high jump clearing 1.65m.

Gavyn Theissen scored team points for Hermann with a sixth-place leap of 5.35m in the boys long jump.

For the Lady Bearcats, a lot of silver went back into Gasconade County with second-place finishes in four field events.

Faith Gabathuler started the parade of second-place finishes for Hermann with a mark of 10.77m in the girls shot put while Alaina Powers also posted a second-place toss of 33.25m in the girls discus.

Katelyn Krueger also placed 15th in the girls shot put for Hermann with a throw of 7.29m.

Gabathuler added a fourth-place throw of 30.68m in the girls discus to her second-place toss in the shot put.

Alivia Witthaus (2nd, 30.54m) and Ashlyn Hughes (4th, 29.64m) scored team points for Hermann in the girls javelin while Jillian Frederick capped the run of second-place finishes clearing 1.45m in the girls high jump.

Kylie Helmig (8th, 2.15m) and Callie Borzillo (10th, 2.00m) posted top-10 clearing heights for Hermann in the girls pole vault.

Tenley McFadden (7th, 8.86m) and Adlee LaBruyere (10th, 8.71m) also had top-10 distances in the girls triple jump.

Morgan Penning (14th, 14.36) and LaBruyere (17th, 14.45) sprinted down the track for Hermann in the girls 100m dash.

Heidi Brinker also placed 19th for the Lady Bearcats in the girls 200m dash with a time of 31.28.

Erika Schutt (9th, 1:07.93) and Fynnlee Riffle (16th, 1:14.04) took a lap around the track for Hermann in the girls 400m dash.

Brylie Haver (6th, 2:48.18) and Elaina Uthlaut (8th, 2:51.24) picked up four team points for Hermann in the girls 800m run.

Eileen Swofford (5th, 14:47.14) and Grace Engemann (6th, 15:17.14) picked up more Lady Bearcat team points in the girls 3200m run.

Taya Thurman narrowly missed scoring team points with a ninth-place time of 57.70 in the girls 300m hurdles.

Taking fourth in the girls 4x100m relay in a time of 54.74 for Hermann was the team of Makayla Nicholson, Hughes, LaBruyere and Brinker.

Placing fifth for Hermann in a time of 4:37.53 in the girls 4x400m relay was the Lady Bearcat squad of McFadden, Schutt, Nicholson and Penning.

HHS Track and Field will return to action Friday during the Owensville High School (OHS) Relays at OHS’ Dutchmen Field.
