HMS Bearcats kick off 2026 against Sullivan, St. Clair, New Haven

Opening the 2026 portion of their season with victories over New Haven (52-21) and St. Clair (43-27), Todd Anderson’s Hermann Middle School 8th grade Bearcats went for a three-win week last Thursday on the road at Sullivan against the host Eagles.

Trailing 5-2 after one quarter, Hermann outscored the Eagles 26-4 the rest of the way during their 28-9 victory.

Miles Eikermann led the blue and white with 11 points followed closely by Will Schutt with nine points.

Lane Bristow and Nate McDaris each chipped in four points for the Bearcats.

Dylan Walker’s Hermann 7th grade Bearcats also posted a 20-14 victory at Sullivan building on a 10-2 halftime lead.

Mason Roche led HMS with eight points including a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers.

Franklin Dildine followed close behind with seven points netting five of those in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Overkamp hit a second-quarter 3-pointer for three points while Bentley Kolks rounded out the Hermann scoring in seventh-grade action with two points on a first-quarter basket.

HMS Bearcats vs. St. Clair

Hosting St. Clair’s Bulldogs last Tuesday night, Anderson’s 8th grade Bearcats turned a 21-18 halftime lead into a 43-27 victory behind a game-high 19 points from Eikermann with 12 of those coming in the first half.

Lane Bristow chipped in seven points while Schutt added all six of his points in the first half.

McDaris scored all five of his points in the second half while Caleb Pohlmann and Caleb Lampkin each netted three points all on free throws.

Trailing 13-5 at halftime in seventh-grade action, Hermann outscored the visiting Bulldogs 9-4 in the third quarter to pull within three of St. Clair 17-14 after three quarters.

Only able to put six points on the board in the fourth quarter, Hermann fell 30-20 in seventh-grade action.

Leading the blue and white with five points apiece were Matthew Tallent, Overkamp and Roche.

Kolks also hit a third-quarter 3-pointer for three points while Dildine also added a fourth-quarter bucket for two points.

HMS Bearcats at New Haven

Opening 2026 last Monday night at New Haven, Hermann’s 8th grade Bearcats turned a 37-11 halftime lead into a 52-21 victory east on Highway 100 in Shamrock country.

Schutt led the Bearcats with 14 points followed by Eikermann who was also in double figures with 10 points.

Chris Groner and Lane Bristow both scored seven points while Pohlmann and McDaris each added six points.

Logan Malloy rounded out the scoring for Anderson’s Bearcats with a fourth-quarter basket for two points.

Nursing a 17-13 halftime lead, Walker’s seventh-grade Bearcats tied New Haven 10-10 in the second half of their 27-23 victory.

Jaxon Kallmeyer paced Hermann with nine points followed closely by Roche with eight markers.

Calen Morgan chipped in four points to go along with three first-half points from Dildine.

Tallent scored a first-quarter basket for two points while Olson Rucker hit a fourth-quarter free throw for his lone point of the game.

Hermann ventured south on Highway 19 Monday night to face the Dutchmen and will also see road action tomorrow (Thursday) in Union against the host Wildcats.
