HMS Track ends season in rainy meet at New Haven

Hermann Middle School’s (HMS) Bearcat and Lady Bearcat track squads ended their season last Tuesday night during the New Haven Middle School open even with it raining during most of the meet.

Winning 13 events along Highway 100, HMS’ Bearcats placed second with 83.5 points behind Owensville’s 104 points while the Lady Bearcats were also second as a team with 70 points behind Owensville’s first-place team total of 98 points.

HMS’ Lady Bearcats earned their first win of the meet in the girls 4x800-meter relay with a winning time of 13:33.12 by the foursome of Ellison Calvert, Kyah Humphrey, Kylie VandeVoorde and Natalie Englert.

Harper Stiers scored the lone individual event win for Hermann on the track with a first-place time of 30.27 in the girls 200m dash.

Also sprinting half a lap for Hermann was Elana Towery (2nd, 31.91), Bailey Fennessey (6th, 34.84), Nadia Davis (12th, 36.82) and Siena Palladino (16th, 37.84).

Mackenzie Bader led the Lady Bearcats with a winning throw of 8.77m in the girls shot put followed by teammates Khloe Cuellar (5th, 7.19m), Nora Leeper (7th, 6.76m), Humphrey (15th, 5.51m), Jackie Hudson (16th, 5.40m), Kylie VandeVoorde (17th, 5.30m) and Kapri Bruno (19th, 4.55m).

Kennedy Schwenck topped the field in the girls long jump for Hermann with a winning leap of 4.20m followed by Stiers (3rd, 3.59m), Camber Rohlfing (4rth, 3.43m) and Calvert (7th, 3.29m).

Schwenck also won the girls triple jump for Hermann with a mark of 8.88m followed by teammates Stiers (2nd, 8.43m), Calvert (6.77m), Rohlfing (7th, 6.64m) and Davis (9th, 6.24m).

Scoring team points for Hermann in the girls 400m dash were Schwenck (2nd 1:15.55) and Lyndsey Krueger (8th, 1:23.52).

Making up nearly half of the top eight in the girls 800m run for Hermann were Englert (5th, 3:15.14), Calvert (6th, 3:17.08) and EllaGrace Carr (8th, 4:28.98).

Towery won the girls 100m hurdles for Hermann in a winning time of 19.80 while the Lady Bearcat 4x100m relay team of Cuellar, Bruno, Bader and Leeper sprinted to a first-place time of 1:07.10.

Taking third place in the girls 4x800m relay with a time of 13:33.12 was the Lady Bearcat squad of Calvert, Humphrey, VandeVoorde and Englert.

Demetrius Matech secured the first event victory for HMS’ Bearcats at New Haven winning the boys shot put with a first-place throw of 9.99m.

Also throwing the shot put for the Bearcats were Caleb Pohlmann (3rd, 8.44m), Landon Wilson (6th, 7.34m), Logan Tyree (7th, 7.33m), Blake Engemann (9th, 7.19m) and Ben Rost (12th, 4.51m).

Pohlmann won the boys discus for the Bearcats with a winning mark of 24.22m followed by Matech (3rd, 23.74), Tyree (5th, 19.53m), Wilson (6th, 19.50m) and Rost (11th, 10.58m).

Lane Bristow cleared 1.60m to win the boys high jump for Hermann while Mason Roche placed fifth clearing 1.25m.

Emmerson Binkholder captured the boys pole vault with a winning clearing height for Hermann of 2.30m.

Teagan Rucker (4th, 1.70m) and Will Traub (5th, 1.55m) also placed in the top five of the boys pole vault for Hermann.

Wilson won the boys 800m run for Hermann with a winning time of 2:30.72 followed by Bearcat teammates Jakob Hoener (3rd, 2:49.05), Olson Rucker (5th, 2:57.00), Garth Gerlemann (6th, 3:01.20), Henry Lindahl (7th, 3:01.61) and Alex Beckmann (9th, 3:21.10).

Winning the boys 4x200m relay for the Bearcats in a time of 1:53.53 was the team of Bentley Kolks, Bristow, Engemann and Binkholder.

Sprinting to second place in the boys 4x100m relay for Hermann in a time of 1:01.66 was the foursome of Matech, Pohlmann, Beckmann and Tyree.

Taking second in the boys 4x800m relay was the Bearcat quartet of Lindahl, Hoener, Gerlemann and Wilson in a time of 11:54.49.
