HMS Track squads compete at St. James, Owensville

OWENSVILLE — Hermann Middle School’s (HMS) track squads saw plenty of action last week competing last Monday at the St. James Middle School Invitational and last Thursday at the Owensville Middle School (OMS) Relays.

HMS’ Lady Bearcats placed ninth with 31 team points while their Bearcat counterparts took 12th out 18 scoring teams.

Kennedy Schwenk (2nd, 1:06.89) and Elana Towery (8th, 1:12.64) scored Lady Bearcat team points with their times in the girls 400m dash.

Schwenk also posted a second-place lead of 4.41m in the girls long jump.

Also earning team points for Hermann in the girls triple jump were Schwenck (3rd, 9.28m) and Harper Stiers (4th, 9.20m).

Posting the highest finish among Lady Bearcat relay teams at St. James was the 4x400m relay team of Raelynn Kleinheider, Camber Rohlfing, Towery and Schwenck with a sixth-place time of 5:00.59.

Sprinting to a ninth-place time of 1:01.26 in the girls 4x100m relay for Hermann was the team of Kylee Schweighauser, Nadia Davis, Bailey Fennessey and Rohlfing.

Also taking 12th in 2:14.96 was the Lady Bearcat 4x200m relay team of Ellison Calvert, Kleinheider, Davis and Rohlfing.

Running to a ninth-place time of 13:58.92 in the girls 4x800m relay for Hermann was the Lady Bearcat foursome of Natalie Englert, Kylie VandeVoorde, Kyah Humphrey and Calvert.

Nora Leeper (29th, 16.24) and Khloe Cuellar (31st, 16.43) sprinted down the track for Hermann in the girls 100m dash.

Lyndsey Krueger also posted a 26th-place time of 23.04 in the girls 100m hurdles.

Mackenzie Bader (10th, 16.67m) rounded out the top 10 of the girls discus for the Lady Bearcats.

Scoring two team points for the Bearcats in the boys 4x200m relay with a seventh-place time of 1:52.22 was the team of Emmerson Binkholder, Blake Engemann, Logan Tyree and Bentley Kolks.

Caleb Pohlmann also posted an eighth-place throw of 27.49m in the boys discus scoring a Bearcat team point.

Lane Bristow recorded the best finish for HMS’ Bearcats at St. James clearing 1.57m to take second place in the boys high jump.

Binkholder also cleared 2.29m in the boys pole vault to place fourth for the blue and white.

Sprinting for Hermann in the boys 100m dash were Mason Roche (25th, 14.79) and Olson Rucker (36th, 16.57).

Bentley Kolks also posted a 12th-place time of 28.14 for the Bearcats in the boys 200m dash.

Binkholder (7th, 1:02.36) and Engemann (8th, 1:03.56) scored three Bearcat team points in the boys 400m dash.

Landon Wilson (18th, 2:47.85) and Olson Rucker (23rd, 2:52.43) took two laps around the track for Hermann in the boys 800m run.

Jakob Hoener (22nd, 6:39.56) and Henry Lindahl (24th, 6:49.84) ran four laps in the boys 1600m run for the Bearcats.

Taking 10th for Hermann in the boys 4x400m relay in a time of 4:51.83 was the blue and white foursome of Teagan Rucker, Olson Rucker, Roche and Engemann.

Placing 12th in the boys 4x800m relay for Hermann in a time of 11:49.15 was the team of Garth Gerlemann, Wilson, Hoener and Lindahl.

Demetrius Matech posted his best throw of the meet placing 13th in the boys discus with a mark of 25.60.

At the OMS Relays, the Hermann girls 4x100m throwers relay team of Kapri Bruno, Humphrey, Leeper and Cuellar posted a third-place time of 1:06.12.

Matech also placed fifth in the boys shot put with a throw of 10.40m while Lane Bristow took second in the boys high jump at Owensville clearing 1.55m.

Hermann’s 4x100m boys throwers relay team of Ben Rost, Logan Tyree, Matech and Pohlmann placed sixth at Owensville in a time of 1:02.31.

Running to an eighth-place time of 14:00.67 in the girls 4x800m relay for Hermann at Owensville was the team of Siena Palladino, Calvert, Englert and VandeVoorde.

Hosting the Hermann Middle School (HMS) Invitational Track Meet last night (Tuesday) at Bearcat Memorial Stadium, HMS Track will compete again on Tuesday, April 28 in a track meet at New Haven.
