While other schools throughout the area are traveling for their respective preseason jamborees, Randy Crowe’s Owensville Dutchmen football and Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball teams will get home-field advantage during their upcoming preseason jamborees this weekend.

Joining the host Dutchmen during their preseason football jamboree on Friday, Aug. 21 will be Hermann’s Bearcats, Fulton’s Hornets, Russellville’s Indians and South Callaway’s Bulldogs.

In the mix the past two seasons, Linn’s Wildcats will instead compete during preseason jamboree action Friday night all the way in Odessa along Interstate 70.

Games will last 30 minutes in length with each varsity squad getting 12 offensive and defensive plays against each other followed additionally by six offensive and defensive plays.

Kicking things off at 7:00 p.m., Friday night on the south (scoreboard) side of Dutchmen Field will be the host Dutchmen taking on South Callaway while an all blue and white affair will take place on the north side of the field between Hermann and Russellville.

Scrimmage games at 7:30 p.m., will see Hermann face Fulton on the scoreboard side of the field while South Callaway and Russellville square off on the north side of Dutchmen Field.

Capping Friday’s jamboree at 8:00 p.m., on the south side of the field by the scoreboard will be Owensville and Fulton.

Eugene’s Eagles were originally slated to be the sixth team replacing Linn but instead will compete at California High School’s jamboree.

A little over 12 hours later on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 22, Koppelmann’s Dutchgirls will host Hermann’s Lady Bearcats and St. James’ Lady Tigers in a three-team preseason jamboree.

Each game will last a maximum of four innings or 70 minutes whichever comes first.

During each scrimmage, a half-inning will end when either three outs are recorded or five runs are scored.

Game one at 10:00 a.m., will pit the host Dutchgirls against St. James’ Lady Tigers followed at approximately 11:20 a.m., by Hermann taking on St. James and at around 12:40 p.m., with a Gasconade County softball showdown between Owensville and Hermann.

Both volleyball squads from Owensville and Hermann will compete in different jamborees on the road on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Owensville will be at Sullivan High School (SHS) against the host Lady Eagles and Potosi Lady Trojans with action starting at 5:00 p.m., inside the SHS main gym.

Fresh off their state runner-up finish in Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2 volleyball, Tess Yoggerst’s Hermann Lady Bearcats will compete against Marshfield’s Lady Blue Jays, Jefferson City’s Lady Jays and Helias’ Lady Crusaders at Jefferson City High School beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Hermann will face Helias at 5:30 p.m., followed by Jefferson City at 6:30 p.m., and Marshfield at 7:30 p.m., in the city of Jefferson.
