James L. Heidbrink, 77, Linn, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 28, 1943, a son to the late Fred and Anna (Hollandsworth) Heidbrink in Mt. Sterling.

He was united in marriage to Sherah A. Armbruster, June 26, 1965, at Pin Oak Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling. Sherah preceded him in death May 11, 2018.

James was a 1961 graduate of Linn High School and was a 1963 graduate of Linn State Technical College with a degree in electronics. He was employed at Kellwood Manufacturing in New Haven as a maintenance electrician.

James was a member of Pin Oak Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling. He enjoyed going to listen to Gospel music, watching tractor pulls and he never turned down a free meal. He loved to cut wood and mess with his chainsaws.

He is survived by two sons, Steven Heidbrink of Mt. Sterling and Clinton Heidbrink and wife Carolyn of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Brittany, Gannon and Lacey Heidbrink; and one great-grandchild, Preston Figueroa. Jim was like a “dad” to Jennifer (Arnold) Chambers of Columbia and Jeffrey Arnold of Owensville. He also considered Jana (Garth) Albers a “sister-in-law.” Jim spent many an enjoyable hour with his beloved cat, Chappy.

In addition to his parents and wife of fifty-two years, James was preceded in death by an infant brother, Fred Heidbrink Jr.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, May 15, at Pin Oak Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with pastors Glen Duncan and Greg Kontz officiating. Inurnment will be at Giedinghagen Cemetery near Mt. Sterling. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Pin Oak Baptist Church.
