James McGee 1940-2026

James W. McGee “Jimmy” or “Unc”, 86, Gerald,   passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at his residence in Gerald.

He was born June 2, 1940, to the late Ernest and Alma (Johnson) McGee in Holcomb.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Lindley on Nov. 16, 1958, in St. Louis.

Jimmy served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.

In his earlier days, he was a cabinetmaker, and known as a Master Craftsman because he could draw, paint, build or carve anything.

In retirement, Jimmy enjoyed the quiet life taking care of animals, gardening and hunting.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Alma; son, J. Spencer McGee; sister, Jannis Presson; brother, Harold “Fibber” McGee; and granddaughter, Stacy Hogan.

Jimmy is survived by wife, Mary Ann of the home; son, Craig R. McGee and wife Tracy of St. Louis; daughter, Regina A. Door and husband Robert of Beaufort; sisters, Alfreida Cagle of Jonesboro, Ark. and Brenda Herrin and husband Larry of Paragould, Ark.; grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Lisa, James, Shawn, Leah and Daniel; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, Aug. 22, at The Ridge Church in Leslie. Interment of ashes were in Woodman Cemetery in Leslie.

In Jim’s honor, the family encourages friends and family to spend time with loved ones, share a meal or help someone in need.
