James Stanley Sneddy, 82, of Gerald, passed away Friday, Jan 12, 2024, at Life Care Center of Sullivan.

He was born Oct. 18, 1941, to John Cordell and Dorothy Grace (Tabor) Sneddy in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Cooley, July 26, 1969, in Clayton.

James had served his country with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Dept. and ambulance service volunteering his service for 48 years. He enjoyed trout fishing, camping, going on cruises, being overseas and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by parents, John and Dorothy; son, James (Jamey) Sneddy Jr.; and siblings, Robert Sneddy and Karen Crull.

He is survived by wife, Marilyn of their home; children, Jason Sneddy and wife Karisa and Renee Sneddy all of Gerald; siblings, Sandra Copeland and husband Ronald of Owensville, Ruth Wright of Washington, Loretta Patrick of Owensville and Rebecca Sipes and significant other Charles Kelley of Warrensburg; grandsons, Steven Ames, Austin Sneddy and Eric Sneddy; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Lilly and Steven.

Visitation will be Wednesday (today), Jan. 17, from 4–8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Gerald.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Gargus officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Gerald with full military honors.
