Jenny Kaye Carpenter, 75, of Bland, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at Stonebridge of Owensville.

She was born April 4, 1948, a daughter to the late Glen and Camelia (Butler) Thompson in Belle.

She was a longtime area resident and earned her high school degree in 1967. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belle.

Jenny was united in marriage to James Carpenter, Jan. 12, 1985, in Belle. Jim survives of their home in Bland.

She was employed at the Belle State Bank for a number of years, as well as, COPIC in Rolla for many years.

Jenny enjoyed camping and fishing with Jim along the Mari-Osa Delta on the Osage river. She liked to shop and passed that trait onto some of her granddaughters. Jenny had a great sense of humor and kept a positive attitude through several health problems through the years. She enjoyed time with friends but above all, Jenny’s greatest love was time with her family. She was very close to her brothers and sisters, and especially loved time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by parents, Glen and Camelia; brothers, Roger and Wayne Thompson; and sister, Glenda Weller.

Jenny is survived by husband of 38 years, James; daughters, Kelly Horstman and husband Jeff of Bland and Leann Kottwitz and husband Tony of Bland; sons, Douglas Carpenter and wife Johna of St. James, Jim Carpenter and wife Kate of St. James, and John Carpenter of Springfield; grandchildren, Shanna, Abbi and husband Travis, Tyler and wife Hannah, and Denni and husband Mason; great-grandchildren, Jamee, Jaxton, Lukas, Braxton, MaKenna, Aubrey, Millie, Jacob, Josh and Kaylin; sister, Toni Buechter of Belle; sisters-in-law, Betty Thompson, Linda Thompson and Brenda Klingensmith; brothers-in-law, Lyn Weller, Luke Buechter and Gary Carpenter; and dog, Ozzie; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today), Oct. 4, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Francis Cemetery.

Expression of sympathy may be made to the Francis Cemetery fund.
