JoAnn Glaser 1947-2026

JoAnn Barbara Glaser, 79, Owensville, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at her residence.

She was born March 3, 1947, to the late Michael and Cecelia (Groner) Ehren in St. Louis.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Ray Glaser on Sept. 30, 1972, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bem.

JoAnn was a faithful member of St. John’s UCC in Bem.

She worked as a school secretary at Cuba Elementary for years and later as the executive secretary at Boys Town in St. James.

JoAnn enjoyed spending time at home and at her church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

JoAnn was an excellent cook and enjoyed creating special dinners for her loved ones. When she was younger, she loved working outdoors and canning fresh vegetables from their garden. She was an avid decorator and especially enjoyed going antiquing at any opportunity. She and Ken’s Century Farm home is a wonderful collection of sweet memories.

JoAnn was preceded in death by parents, Michael and Cecelia; siblings, Barbara Steinman, Sister Mary Claver (Florence) Ehren, Dolores Ehren, Cecilia Browning, Eleanor Patrick, Michael Ehren, Donald Ehren, Mildred Brewer and Evelyn Mar.

She is survived by loving husband, Kenneth of the home; children, Cheryl Heitman-Higgason and husband David of Sullivan, Jason Glaser and wife Sarah of Joplin and Matthew Glaser and wife Michelle of Springfield; grandchildren, Erin Bartschmid and husband Albert, Tyler Heitman and Jaira Glaser; great-grandchildren, Hank and Hudson Bartschmid;  siblings, Frances Wilkerson and husband James of Rolla, Margie Clark of Lewisville, Texas and Loretta Jakubiec and husband Peter of Clinton Township, Mich.; sister-in-law, Becky Ehren of Winston-Salem, N.C.;  and caregiver and dear friend, Carol Harris.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 13, at St. John’s UCC Bem with Pastor Jeff Remelius officiating. Interment was in St. Johns’ UCC Cemetery in Bem.
