Johnie E. “Gene” Buehrlen, 80, Belle, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2020, at Frene Valley nursing home in Owensville.
He was born Nov. 12, 1939, to Earl Woodrow and Nancy (Backues) Buehrlen, in Paydown.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Schaffer, Feb. 14, 1996, in Rolla.
Johnie attended grade school in Summerfield and high school in Belle. He was employed as a truck driver, in the logging industry, laying telephone cable and in construction.
He was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Nancy; daughter, Tammy Sauer; stepson, Linn Bailey; brother, Durrell Buehrlen; brother-in-law, Benie Gresham; and granddaughter, Samantha Buehrlen.
He is survived by wife, Mildred; children, Paul Buehrlen, Lawrence Buehrlen, Terry Sauer, Tina Sauer and Theresa Bray and husband Chris, all of Belle, Randy Buehrlen and Donnie Buehrlen and wife Sherri, all of Rolla, Mike Buehrlen of St. James, Terry Helmig of Arizona, Carl Bailey and his wife Bobbie of Columbia and Amanda Vanostran of Byron; sister, Eliva Gresham of Rolla; brothers, Delford Buehrlen of Summerfield, Earl Buehrlen Jr. of Belle, Royace Buehrlen of Gasconade and Verner Buehrlen of Summerfield; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle with funeral services following. Interment will be in the Breeding Cemetery near Freeburg.
