For Hermann’s JV Bearcats and Lady Bearcats, it was a short week for them in tournament action in Hermann for Jess Robb’s Lady Bearcats and in New Haven for Trent Anderson’s Bearcats.
Over in Hermann, Robb’s Lady Bearcats suffered a 22-17 first-round setback against Union before seeing their tournament end after a 28-15 loss to Fulton in the consolation semifinals.
Against Union, Hailey Diebal led the Lady Bearcats with five points followed closely with four points from Lucy Theissen.
Hallie Kallmeyer and Adlee LaBruyere each added three points while Brooklyn Yates rounded out the JV Lady Bearcat scoring against Union with two points
Lady Bearcats vs. Fulton
Trailing 17-11 after three quarters, Robb’s JV Lady Bearcats were well withing striking distance of advancing to Saturday morning’s consolation championship game during their consolation semifinal showdown with Fulton’s Lady Hornets.
Only able to put four points on the board over the final seven minutes, Robb’s Lady Bearcats saw their tournament end following a 28-15 loss to the Lady Hornets.
Grace Engemann paced the Lady Bearcats with six points on a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers.
Yates added four points followed closely with three points from LaBruyere and a first-quarter bucket from Lilly Korman for two points.
JV Bearcats at New Haven
Opening their tournament week at New Haven last Tuesday, Anderson’s Hermann JV Bearcats dropped a 59-25 decision to St. James before falling 44-25 against Union in the consolation semifinals.
Layne Bader led the JV Bearcats scoring 13 of his team-high 19 points in the third quarter.
Sawyer Moore added three points followed closely by Ashton Rucker on a pair of first-half free throws
Trevor Hale capped Hermann’s scoring against St. James with a first-quarter free throw for one point.
JV Bearcats vs. Union
Within striking distance trailing 19-15 at halftime in consolation semifinal action against Union, Hermann was outscored 25-10 in the second half of their 44-25 setback against the Wildcats.
Roman Martin and Hale each led Anderson’s JV Bearcats with six points.
Adding three points apiece were EJ Lindahl, Parker Thurman and Moore.
Gavyn Theissen also added two points for Hermann while their other two points came from Union scoring in the wrong basket.
