BELLE — Racing last at Linn over two weeks ago, Keely Uthlaut’s Hermann Middle School Bearcats and Lady Bearcats returned to action last Tuesday at the Belle Cross Country Invitational.
Hermann’s Bearcats placed fourth with 119 team points finishing behind Steelville (44), Rolla (65) and Union (68).
Jaxon Kallmeyer led the Bearcats with a seventh-place time of 12:51.4 good for Hermann’s lone medal in the middle school boys division.
Also helping HMS’ Bearcats place fourth as a team were Mason Roche (25th, 13:44.9), Olson Rucker (36th, 14:10.1), James Shoemaker (43rd, 14:36.0), Henry Lindahl (46th, 14:39.2), Miles Busch (78th, 16:16.6), Easton Bailey (80th, 16:42.7) and William Traub (103rd, 20:06.4).
HMS’ Lady Bearcats scored 162 points to place eighth as a team behind Vienna (63), Union (66), Steelville (80), Rolla (91), Bourbon (106), Bland (137) and Harrisburg (143).
Sophia Bohl led the Lady Bearcats with a fifth-place time of 14:18.8.
Running along with Bohl for HMS’ Lady Bearcats were Iris Pottebaum (48th, 17:25.4), Lillian Azevedo (51st, 17:38.2), Elise Shoemaker (52nd, 17:56.3), Kyah Humphrey (57th, 18:09.8) and Audrey Talamante (67th, 20:15.0).
Nathan Menke led Hermann’s varsity Bearcats at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin back on Saturday, Sept. 19 with a 44th-place time of 18:29.50.
Placing 21st as a team with 503 points in Joplin, Bearcats finishing behind Menke included Ryker Ash (51st, 18:34.32), Chase Branson (115th, 19:49.90), Matthew Tallent (160th, 20:42.41), Andrew Calvert (175th, 21:17.14), Jackson Engemann (183rd, 21:38.15), Landon Wilson (184th, 21:38.22), Laramie Bristow (187th, 21:42.40), James Leavy (210th, 23:05.76) and Jakob Hoener (221st, 24:07.88).
Cecilia Shepard led Hermann’s varsity Lady Bearcats in Joplin with a 116th-place time of 24:40.39 while Fynnlee Riffle placed 147th in 26:37.56.
Also helping Hermann placed 21st as a team with 522 points were Nevaeh Bentley (152nd, 27:05:35), Lillian Vogelsang (162nd, 27:59.28), Ellison Calvert (165th, 29:08.33), Kylie VandeVoorde (175th, 30:04.15) and Sidney Heldt (176th, 30:09.55).
Hermann’s JV Bearcats also placed 14th in Joplin with a team score of 377 points led by Lane Bristow’s 85th-place time of 14:03.67.
Also running for the JV Bearcats in Joplin were Teagan Rucker (111th, 14:42.38), Kayden Brinker (123rd, 15:01.50), Ethan Helmig (131st, 15:16.37) and Logan Tyree (153rd, 17:07.59).
