Last Monday night prior to the Thanksgiving Day holiday, Hermann’s JV and varsity Lady Bearcats hosted St. Francis Borgia’s ‘C’ team and Father Tolton Regional Catholic respectively.
Trailing 23-22 at halftime against Tolton’s Lady Trailblazers, Hermann entered the fourth quarter down 31-29 before being outscored 17-12 in the fourth quarter of their 48-41 loss to the visiting Lady Trailblazers out of Columbia.
Brynlee Ash and Kealie Lane each led the Lady Bearcats with 14 points.
Andrea VanBooven nearly recorded her second double double in as many games finishing with seven points and 10 rebounds.
Lane added eight rebounds, three steals, two blocked shots and an assist to her 14 points while Ash also collected five rebounds and a steal.
Madyson Yates chipped in four points and 11 rebounds while Carlie Walkenbach rounded out the varsity Lady Bearcat scoring against Tolton with two points.
Hermann was scheduled to open Montgomery County Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament action Monday night against the host Lady Wildcats.
That contest has been rescheduled for tonight (Wednesday).
In JV action against Borgia, Hermann could not overcome a two-point second quarter before winding up on the short end of a 28-18 final score.
Remi Groner led Hermann with eight points followed by four points from Brooklyn Yates all in the first half.
Lucy Theissen added a third-quarter 3-pointer for three points while Adlee LaBruyere hit a pair of fourth-quarter free throws for two points.
Sydney Englert hit a first-quarter free throw for one point rounding out the scoring against Borgia.
Hermann opened their home JV Girls Tournament last night (Tuesday) hosting Union.
