After being swept last Monday in Jefferson City against the host Lady Jays, Tess Yoggerst’s Hermann Lady Bearcats tried again for their first notch in the win column last Tuesday night in a Highway 19 cat fight against Montgomery County’s Lady Wildcats on the road at Montgomery County High School.
Action began with the Hermann C team sweeping the host Lady Wildcats in two sets by scores of 25-8 and 25-8.
Hermann’s JV Lady Bearcats also swept their match in two sets over Montgomery County by scores of 25-19 and 25-7.
Yoggerst’s varsity Lady Bearcats needed four sets to win their non-conference match by scores of 20-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18.
Kalli Landolt led Hermann with eight kills to go along with seven kills from Andrea VanBooven.
Hannah Epple added five kills followed closely by Maddy Yates with four kills.
Landolt also showed the way in the ace department with four followed by two apiece from Brynlee Ash, Harper Stiers and Chloe Brune.
Tenley McFadden and Epple each also had an ace for Hermann against Montgomery County.
VanBooven also paced Hermann with two blocks while Ash recorded a team-high 22 digs against the host Lady Wildcats.
Landolt nearly reached double digits in digs finishing with nine while Lilly Korman chipped in four digs.
Stiers dished out a team-leading 15 assists while Korman added six dimes.
Last Monday night in Jefferson City, Hermann fell in three sets during varsity action by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-16 while the JV Lady Bearcats also fell in three sets by scores of 25-16, 21-25 and 18-16.
Epple had seven kills to lead Hermann against Jefferson City while Brune had two aces against the Lady Jays.
VanBooven recorded a team-high three blocks while Epple and Landolt each had two blocks.
Ash and Landolt reached double digits in digs with 13 and 10 respectively.
Stiers also recorded a team-high eight assists at Jefferson City.
During the Windsor Tournament held back on Saturday, Aug. 29, Makayla Nicholson and Landolt each had two aces in their seventh-place match against Lutheran South.
VanBooven and Landolt each also had four blocks.
Against Windsor, four Lady Bearcats had two kills apiece in Victoria VanBooven, Andrea VanBooven, Epple and Yates.
In the consolation semifinal match against Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau), Stiers paced Hermann with four blocks and three assists.
